The Kashmiri Mirch is a mild chilli variety renowned for its vibrant red hue and subtle heat, measuring between 1,000 and 2,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). Its slender pods mature to a deep red, imparting a fruity, slightly smoky flavour to dishes. Prized, and predominantly used in Indian cuisine, it enhances curries, tandoori dishes, and marinades with rich colour and gentle warmth. This Capsicum annuum species originates from the Kashmir region of India. Plants typically begin to flower around 90 to 150 days after transplanting, with fruits maturing approximately 2 to 3 months thereafter. Kashmiri Mirch is an heirloom variety, cherished for its unique characteristics.

  • Species: Capsicum annuum
  • Scoville (SHU): 1,000–2,000
  • Origin: Kashmir, India
  • Time to Fruit: Approximately 120–180 days from transplanting
  • Culinary Uses: Curries, tandoori dishes, marinades, pickles, chutneys

I found these to be an early fruiting chilli, and the chillies are tasty even when green!

Seeds Quality

Every seed we sell is grown at the ChilliChump homestead, so we control the whole process from sowing to harvest. Seeds are handpicked from healthy plants, processed using methods we’ve refined over the years, and germination-tested before they reach you.

Unless a listing says otherwise, every variety we sell is a stable line (F7+), so it breeds true season after season and won’t throw unexpected traits on its own. That leaves one thing to manage: cross-pollination, where stray pollen reaches a flower on an insect or a gust of wind while it’s in bloom. We take more care over isolation than most, which keeps the risk small, but no outdoor grower can rule it out entirely, so we don’t claim 100% purity. The only way to TRULY isolate chilli varieties is to grow just one variety within a quarter-mile to a mile radius from any other chilli pepper variety.

You can read what other growers think in our reviews, and the ChilliChump YouTube channel follows these plants through every season, so you can see exactly where your seeds come from. If you’re ever unhappy with seeds from us, please get in touch.

Excellent quality seeds as usual, germinated into and grown on to become excellent quality plants. Shaun never ceases to provide anything less than excellent with everything he puts out into the open, whether that be hot sauces, seeds, books and or even YouTube video’s!
