The Death Spiral is a super-hot chilli of the species Capsicum chinense, bred in the United Kingdom. It produces deeply wrinkled, spiral-shaped pods that ripen from light green to deep red. Heat levels reach around 1,300,000 to 1,400,000 SHU. The flavour is fruity with citrus and floral notes, followed by an intense, long-lasting burn. It is excellent for hot sauces, chilli powders, or extremely spicy dishes. The plant performs best in warm, sheltered conditions and typically fruits within 110–120 days. It was developed from a cross of Naga and 7 Pot type genetics. This was a prolific grower for me, really pleased with the genetics of this one.

Unless a listing says otherwise, every variety we sell is a stable line (F7+), so it breeds true season after season and won’t throw unexpected traits on its own. That leaves one thing to manage: cross-pollination, where stray pollen reaches a flower on an insect or a gust of wind while it’s in bloom. We take more care over isolation than most, which keeps the risk small, but no outdoor grower can rule it out entirely, so we don’t claim 100% purity. The only way to
TRULY isolate chilli varieties is to grow just one variety within a quarter-mile to a mile radius from any other chilli pepper variety.
