The Red Pepperoncini is a mild chilli pepper, measuring between 100 and 500 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). Its slender, wrinkled pods mature from light green to vibrant red, offering a tangy and slightly sweet flavour with a hint of bitterness. Commonly pickled, Red Pepperoncini adds zest to salads, sandwiches, and antipasto platters. This Capsicum annuum variety thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, typically maturing in over 75 days after planting. Originating from Italy, it’s a staple in Mediterranean cuisine.
