The 7 Pot Brainstrain is a superhot Capsicum chinense known for its gnarly looking pods and extreme heat. This is a 7Pot variety, bred for its distinctive brain like surface and consistent burn. Heat regularly exceeds 1,200,000 SHU. Pods ripen from green to red and carry a sharp, fruity flavour beneath the heat, which works best in small doses for sauces and powders. The plants take time to mature and need warmth to perform well. I consider this a classic superhot, which consistently impresses me.

The 7Pot Brainstrain Yellow is a superhot Capsicum chinense variety from Trinidad. Its pods start green and ripen to a bright yellow with a deeply wrinkled, brain-like texture. Heat levels reach between 1,400,000 and 1,700,000 SHU. The flavour is intensely fruity with notes of tropical fruit and a lasting burn. Plants grow over 1 m tall and produce well in warm conditions with strong sunlight. A long growing season is needed for best results. This variety is ideal for making extreme hot sauces or powders.

The Death Spiral is a super-hot chilli of the species Capsicum chinense, bred in the United Kingdom. It produces deeply wrinkled, spiral-shaped pods that ripen from light green to deep red. Heat levels reach around 1,300,000 to 1,400,000 SHU. The flavour is fruity with citrus and floral notes, followed by an intense, long-lasting burn. It is excellent for hot sauces, chilli powders, or extremely spicy dishes. The plant performs best in warm, sheltered conditions and typically fruits within 110–120 days. It was developed from a cross of Naga and 7 Pot type genetics. This was a prolific grower for me, really pleased with the genetics of this one.

The Dragon’s Breath is an exceptionally hot chilli, unofficially measured at 2,480,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). Its small, wrinkled pods mature from green to vibrant red, delivering an intense fruity flavour. Originating from Denbighshire, Wales, this Capsicum chinense variety was developed through a collaboration between a local farmer and Nottingham Trent University. Due to its extreme heat, it’s ideal for making ultra-hot sauces and should be used sparingly in culinary applications.
